You Bought The Lie, Just Like Eve
Now if you have not given your life to Jesus Christ and you conform your life to the world’s way and culture, this post may not be for you. But, if you have given your life to Him and want to follow Him and conform your life to His word, this post is definitely for you. I must make that distinction so that there will be an understanding from the beginning. This post is written for the married woman, as well as for the single woman. Have you ever asked yourself, “Who are you woman of God?” or “What does God The Father expect from His daughter?” Do you ever revisit why He made you? Have you examined why He equipped you a certain way? Well witnessing the state and confusion of womanhood in the world and in the church, I believe it’s time for some clarification. Will the true created version of womanhood please stand up?!!
Now this next point makes the rebellious hearts of many women scoff and get angry, but it is only because you have bought the lie. You have bought the lie that you are independent, do not need a man, can do anything a man can do, and your role can be the same as a man. YES, those are all lies. Please do not stop reading, please do not just believe me, but believe scripture from the one who made you.
11 Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman.12 For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God. -1 Corinthians 11:11-12
God is a Father of unity within the body of Christ. We are deceived and/or mislead when we look upon God’s order as a lower place or punishment, but we should look at it rather as an abundance of love and protection for you to walk out all He created you to be. We all have a specific role to fill in God’s Kingdom. When we step outside of our given roles, we cannot truly bring Him glory. He will not be glorified with rebellious hearts striving against His order. So, back to one the questions asked at the beginning, “Who are you, woman of God?”
7 For a man indeed should not have his head veiled, because he is the image and glory of God, and the woman is the glory of man. 8 For man was not made from woman, but woman from man; 9 and indeed man was not created for the sake of the woman but woman for the sake of the man. 10 The reason a woman should show by veiling her head that she is under authority has to do with the angels. -1 Corinthians 11:7-10
There it is! Right there in the bible. We were created “for the sake of man.” You are “the glory of man.” Now how does that make you feel? Does it sting, upset you, are you angry or have settled in your mind to ignore that part of scripture? I pray not. I pray that if we call ourselves believers, we are open to obey God even when we do not fully understand why. You don’t have to understand to be obedient. You know the scripture, God’s ways are higher than ours (Is. 55:8-9). The bible also says right now we know in part, but when Christ comes that which is in part will be done away with (1 Cor 13:9-12). I remember someone I know came to church with me and it just so happened that the Pastor was preaching on wives submitting to their husbands. Omg, I think her head was about to blow off!! She did not like that, but considers herself a Christian. She believes in “EQUALITY!!”
Let’s unpack that for a moment. What is equality? Equality is the state of being equal, especially in status, rights, and opportunities. Suppose you had two children and they were teenagers. They are old enough to stay home alone. Before leaving the house, you and your husband gave them chores to do and instruction. Since your son is older you left him in charge and expected him to protect his sister. You gave him chores to do like take out the garbage, fix the chair in the living room, you asked your daughter to start dinner and do her homework. You told them both you’ll be back and to make sure they do what was asked of them. Now do you think the children are sitting around thinking their parents do not see them as equal simply because one of them were left in charge and they were both given different responsibilities? Of course NOT!! They understand they are loved equally, but have different roles and responsibilities. It is the same in God’s Kingdom. “For Adam was formed first, then Eve (1 Timothy 2:13).” As women and men our Father loves us exactly the same and there is no partiality. He just gave us different roles and responsibilities. Therefore, it has absolutely nothing to do with equality! That is propaganda spun by satan who is the god of this world to bring division and competition between man and woman. Are there horrible men in the world, yes, but there are also horrible women and that has no bearings on the order of God. Therefore, if you find yourself fighting for the opportunity to fill a role that was given to men by God, like headship and authority in governmental leadership of the church, you are out of God’s will and going against His order. It is not wise to drag a wordly fight into God’s Kingdom. He did not create you to compete with, but to compliment man. He created you to be a help.
22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. -Ephesians 5:22-24
I even witness professed Christian women, argue with their husbands in public, correcting him, and being disrespectful. That is not how a Godly wife ought to be. Even those of you who are single I hope you read this entire post and start to pray, study God’s word and prepare to be a good wife in the eyes of Christ. I pray for you to know that God did not give you man as your head to harm you, but to love, cherish, provide, protect and adore you. When Eve stepped on the scene God saw to it that Adam was able to provide all that she needed. As you can read above for yourselves the order is God is the head of Christ, Christ is the head of man and man is the head of woman. You should be rejoicing in your role as a woman, that God made total provision for you. But, many women have bought the lie, allowed satan to make them feel slighted and are forever competing with men for “equality” in the world and have now brought that mindset into the Kingdom of God and it won’t fit. I will expound more about this in the next post.
Now please hear me that this does not mean that you are not free to walk in the gifts, talents and callings that God has placed in you. It just means that The Kingdom of God has an order that is ordained by God. We reach our full potential in Christ when we operate in His Kingdom and are obedient to His will and His word. Sure we can have a false sense of accomplishment and strive for some level of success, but we can still be a far cry from the will of God as women and the shoes He created us to fill. We are a fearfully made, wonderful, beautiful and an exquisite creation (Ps.139:14). We were made by God to carry his little creations,
- to nurture
- to pray
- to be an example
- to heal
- to build
- to befriend
- to laugh
- to be brave
- to war in the spirit
- to see beyond pain
- to encourage
- to be strong
- to be vulnerable
- to make things prettier than they were before we came
- to care
- to believe the best when others can’t
- to be the sweetness in the world
- to dream and have vision
- to be the glue that holds the family together with love
- to love our husbands, sons, daughters, neighbors, strangers, to glorify Christ in all that we do as the glory of man.
There is an ongoing debate in the church and amongst theologians if women should be in leadership positions in ministry, some say its absolutely forbidden and some say not so. Frankly. as I study scripture I find this point can be argued either way. We see Paul forbidding women to teach (1 Timothy 2:12) or have authority over men, but we also see women used mightily all throughout scripture. I will admit I am not completely at ease on either side, so I error on the side of caution. I make sure I am submitted to my husband in all that I do and I use my gifts with prayer and besides Christ of course, the covering of my husband. Until The Holy Spirit gives us a rhema word concerning this, I will stick to what the bible says and it says a woman should have a covering and man is the head of woman. If you decide to take a hard stance that women can do whatever men can do in the church, I do not believe that is scriptural because gender equality is a wordly cause, not a scriptural or Kingdom of God cause. We do not have an equality struggle in God’s Kingdom. He loves us all and has given us specific instruction in His word. I’m not going to take the time to prove my stance because you can go online and find the argument on both sides. Work out your own salvation in fear and trembling. I just pray that you humble yourself before God and search your heart and make sure you are not driven by the spirit of rebellion, pride or competition with men.
I hope you enjoyed this post and I will post part two next week of specifically how the enemy has deceived women to compete with men instead of functioning in the role God gave them. Take time and read Proverbs 31, this does not sound like a woman who is missing out, lacking or has need of competition with her husband. God bless you Godly-Girlies. The Virtuous Wife
10 Who[b] can find a virtuous[c] wife?
For her worth is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her;
So he will have no lack of gain.
12 She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life.
13 She seeks wool and flax,
And willingly works with her hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
She brings her food from afar.
15 She also rises while it is yet night,
And provides food for her household,
And a portion for her maidservants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
From her profits she plants a vineyard.
17 She girds herself with strength,
And strengthens her arms.
18 She perceives that her merchandise is good,
And her lamp does not go out by night.
19 She stretches out her hands to the distaff,
And her hand holds the spindle.
20 She extends her hand to the poor,
Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of snow for her household,
For all her household is clothed with scarlet.
22 She makes tapestry for herself;
Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates,
When he sits among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
And supplies sashes for the merchants.
25 Strength and honor are her clothing;
She shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She opens her mouth with wisdom,
And on her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She watches over the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many daughters have done well,
But you excel them all.”
30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands,
And let her own works praise her in the gates.
